The role and influence of information technology in our society and
economy is continuing to grow, together with the responsibility of IT
enterprises.


The founding idea

Software developments with a high level of system errors that hit the headlines (for instance space travel, aircraft construction, ...) and events such as the year 2000 problem increased awareness and demonstrated the extent to which our life depends on the correct operation of software and information infrastructure.

These changes in the social, political and commercial environment also raised the standard for information technology. There is an increasing demand for the development of technologies, tools, methods and models for software and systems quality. Software is increasingly being used in systems where failure or error threaten security, commercial success, private life or information confidence.


The foundation of the business

On this background of software quality increasingly gaining importance the Software Quality Lab was founded in 2003 -- already with the idea of offering advice and services in this sector with the competence and necessary experience.

The focus has always been on fields that constitute the weak points in the software production process and are often neglected by software manufacturers and customers due to resource shortages or time pressure - such as requirements analysis and definition, testing or documentation creation.

In the consulting sector, we supply process improvement methods, making use of established tried-and-tested standard models and methods.

We also collaborate with university institutes in order to identify the latest trends and methods as early as possible and to participate in their further development, practical implementation and distribution.

Further milestones

In 2006, the company was converted from a sole ownership into a limited liability company, thereby laying the foundation for successful growth. The first employees were also recruited in this year.

Today, in 2009, the of Software Quality Lab team comprises a total of 15
employees.
