CMMI, SPICE - 'good practice'-models for software-engineering ...

Short description ...

CMMI stands for Capability Maturity Model Integration and SPICE is the abbreviation of Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination.

Neither of these models is purely theoretical, both pose "good practice" models and help software developing companies to improve their processes by indicating necessary steps leading to a sustainable and successful software development process.

These models describe the level of maturity/capability of an organization and its processes in 5 or 6 steps (depending on the model).

CMMI and SPICE are no process models like RUP, the V-model (XT) or eXtreme Programming (see our newsletter "process models"), they define the scope of successful application of procedure models and rating of software development processes.

Detailed informations about "good practice" models are to be found in our actual newsletter.

Our services ...

  • 1 day informational seminar (internal):
    • introduction, motivation
    • overview of software process improvement methods
    • relations to each other and effects of each method
    • strategies for introduction
    • presentation of "good practice" models CMMI and/or SPICE
    • detailed insights into methods (of selected process types)
    • discussion using the examples of concrete processes in the company
    • ...
  • CMMI or SPICE - first analysis and startup workshop:
    • The goal of this workshop is to demonstrate a comprehensive presentation of the situation in the company, including vulnerabilities and risks by using systematic and holistic orientiated situation analysis for your entire company.
    • Basically this is the short form of an "official" assessment.
    • A catalogue of measures regarding the orientation in CMMI or SPICE is proposed.
    • As a result there is a presentation of the current situation and an evalution within the scope of CMMI SPICE together with a roadmap. This roadmap illustrates the most important milestones and measures which have to be reached in order to achieve the desired level of maturity.
  • Coaching and advanced support to achieve the desired CMMI/SPICE level of maturity
    • we may accompany you with complete support on your way to achieve the desired CMMI/SPICE level of maturity
    • because a consultant cannot give methodical advice and then also proceed a certification, the final assessment/appraisal will be done by an independent consultant service who was not involved in the consulting process itself.

A quote from one of our customers/Customer testimonials ...

CMMI-workshop/seminar for the Austrian Bundesrechenzentrum, April 2004:

"I only can confirm the positive impressions that I already had in Neusiedl from the progressions and results of the workshop. Further discussions with attendees resulted in a better understanding of the topic and a more positive basic approach in the work on the way to certification. And this was finally the main result I wanted to achieve. Therefore I think this whole workshop was a success and am very thankful for the constructive and motivating consulting."
