Tool-Evaluation

Tool-Evaluation consists of the following steps:

  1. Definition of requirements and decision-making base
(e.g. in a form of a checklist or rough specifications)
  2. Get a market overview of eligible tools
  3. Rough pre-selection of suitable tools (e.g. based on individually defined tool evaluation checklist)
  4. Requesting or obtaining the tools
  5. Installation and configuration
  6. Creating suitable evaluation scenarios and examples
  7. Comparison of tools and creating a base for decision-makers (e.g. in the form of a SWOT or value analysis)
  8. Create a detailed requirement specification
  9. Start of detailed negotiation and implementation process / project

Problems with the tool-evaluation

Various reasons of problems in tool evaluation:

  • lack of time because of other important projects
  • lack of qualified people able to choose tools
  • limited market overview of the major tools
  • underestimated tool-evaluation effort

Apparent solution:

  • The tool selection is performed "by the way" by "cheap" students or interns, on whose results strategic decisions are based
  • These young people often lack the overview, the necessary practical experience as well as the strategic / entrepreneurial vision!
  • This important decision is often based on a shaky basis, just after some "playing around" with the tool!

Our recommendation:

Conduct the tool evaluation effectively, professionally and with the necessary strategic overview.

We are here to help you in this process with our tool specialists and the Tool Evalution Center (TEC).
